Simon Karlsson PHOTOGRAPHY

I'm a fashion photographer and as you can see this site contains my portfolio. I was born in the southern part of Sweden and lived on the country side for quite some years where I developed art of all my inspiration.

I always wanted to become a great painter. Thats why I applied to an art school and went there for two years. During that time I got fed up with modern art for a while. I became a reluctant student and started to experiment with fashion photography. After these two years I actually realized that my work was not just fashion - but art too.

I moved to Stockholm and studied in School of Fashion Photography where I had the chance to experiment more with lightning. I studied fashion by reading tons of magazines everyday at home and I fell in love with the esthetics of Vogue, Numero and W-magasine. My role models are Helmut Newton, Mario Testino and Miles Alridge but I get a great deal of inspiration from both Sally Mann, Wolfgang Tillmann and Juergen Teller as well.

I want to combine art and fashion.

I work with paraphrases and interpretations of esthetics, artists, photographers and pop culture. The most vital part for me is brilliant colors, a sincere feeling and a consequent composition.
